Here is an update to my "bit off more than I can chew" post earlier....here is my first atempt at a long asymmetrical curve match. I had a number of problems and frustrations, but here is what I came up with. Most likely will end up in my sheath and won't be leaving the shop due to imperfections in the curve match....but damn the hamon looks good....I will be trying more of these, and know the next one will be 100% better than this, but it was a decent first try and I am happy overall. Heres the specs and a pic after inital sanding....

1084, multiple interrupted quench
3/8" nickel silver one piece bolsers
Dyed burl
Mosaic pins

very cool. Is an interrupted quench when you continually dip it in and take it out of the quenchant until it's cooled?

Maybe I am not using the terminology right, but I sink it to full depth (the main transition line), quenching with a slicing movement until 90% of flame/bubble stops, then raise it a bit, back down, up, back down. It must put a few levels of softness in the soft part of the blade.

I still got some alloy banding on this one, though it did have a full heat soak. For some reason 1084 always alloy bands for me, causing the semi-wootz pattern in the steel.

Hey, doesn't that look like a Mercworx knife? ;) ;) :D

Just hackin on ya, Bro. That's a very nice looking knife! :)

Hahah! Yeah im not sure what that guy's deal was....i think I ticked him off in some other thread, and he just went looking for something to say.
