Check 'em out!

I try to make them fun so they aren't super technical. If you are new to knife making I bet you will pick up some tips. Hopefully they help everyone out!

Good stuff Dan, I like when you break the ice on your grinding bucket! I wonder how much extra grinding time you get starting with a piece of steel that is 20-30* F than like I do here in the summer where the steel can be 130*F from just siting out for 15-20 minutes!

Thanks for the videos Daniel, I like the shop too! Did you change kilns at some point? I saw a top loader and a front loader. What made you switch if so?

They never heat up!

OK I'm lying but I have a tiny bit more time to grind than in the summer. It's surprising there is actually very little difference but I am pretty careful to never get my steel too hot even pre heat treat.

Yeah, I can't help but wonder if he may even have an advantage there.

Advantage - Fairly! :)

Thanks! Yes I had the top loader for a little while and switched to a 24" front opening kiln. The top loader was nice but the front loader is a bit safer and holds the heat a little better. I switched for several reasons, mainly the first one was too small, also it didn't get hot enough for some air hardening steels. It is actually my wife's bead annealing kiln for lampworking, it has a tiny side door for that type of work.

I really enjoyed the videos. Great Job.

Bryan

Thanks! I had a lot of fun making them and am glad you enjoyed them!

Much appreciated! I enjoy music when I work, you have to have some rock music to grind metal!
