Winter is approaching so that means when working outside gloves are essential. I don't need Gore-Tex gloves, but something to keep the freeze away. It can get pretty cold in AZ in the early morning and early afternoons, especially in the middle of nowhere.

I previously used the all black Mechanix gloves and I love them. They fit really well and are light weight, have great stitching, and allow for excellent manual dexterity. The only con to them was that the hook & loop on the cuff wears out extremely fast. It got to the point where the loop was unable to stay securely closed. So, with these qualities in mind what say you?

i am a mail carrier for the usps and i use mechanix gloves instead of the gloves offered by the post office. the mechanix gloves give better dexterity and in my opinion are just enough to keep the cold off.

I use mechanix gloves, never worn the velcro fasteners out, but then i never use the fasteners anyway, no problems with the gloves coming off whilst working.

The "FastFit" gloves by Mechanix have no velcro, come in multiple sizes, and are the cheapest of the Mechanix line, as far as I know.

Mine have not seen what I would call "heavy duty" use, but the pair that stays in my truck have been used frequently for several years, and a newer pair that goes in my pack have been used for belaying(NOT rappelling-some people belay barehanded) and stuff around the house where I didn't want to get my hands dirty. They used to go on sale at AutoZone for $9/pair.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think Mechanix it will be. I was not expecting the velcro to wear out either. It was weird, it got all nappy and just would not hold any longer. I'll look into the fastfit style.
