I have a work Sharp guided sharpening system that I've been using for a couple of months. I love the system but hate the abrasives they just aren't high quality, does anyone know of any third party plates or stones that will fit it they are 6" x 1.5" any help is greatly appreciated.

Don't know of another stone that specific size, but curious what you don't like about the WS stones? I've had pretty good luck with mine... the only one I've replaced so far was the XC one... (not replaced, it still works, but more as a coarse stone, so I added another XC to the mix).

Diamond stones do load up and need to be cleaned from time to time... I scrub mine with a brush and some Barkeeper's Friend. Also, if you're not aware, too much pressure can "kill" a diamond stone... stripping off the diamonds.

I did adapt a couple of DMT 6x2 stones by drilling a small indent in the ends to accommodate the posts on the WS base just so I could use them with the base... (it eliminates the use of the pivot/rotating feature of the base that "tracks" the belly to tip area if you use that feature... not really eliminates, but doesn't work as well).

If you think they wore out too quick, I'd give WorkSharp a call and see what they think... might be a warranty issue.

I think people dont realize how light pressure you actually need when usi g a diamond plate. I trashed 3 6" dmt plates when i was young before i was "enlightened"
By a friend at freeport knife.
However light you think it should be, it is probably still too much pressure.
The diamonds do the work.

I really like the WorkSharp GSS and it absolutely helped as a gateway drug into free handing on bench stones. Its a well thought out system but real bench stones are more fun!
