I've been designing some more 3D printable upgrades for anyone to use for free, like all my other designs.

This time it is an attachment for the Knife and Tool sharpener (Work Sharp Ken Onion Types). Mine is not an original version, but I think the attachment should work fine on the original Ken Onion Work Sharp version too.

It is a platten and an optional small 90 degree platform for repairs and general work that makes the grinder a more versatile tool.

You simply pop off the knife guide from your grinder, and replace it with my attachment. (Put the belt on after my attachment). If you want to use my 90 degree platform accessory, then simply install 2 small brass threaded inserts into the attachment, and use 2 screws to attach the platform to it.

If there is enough interest for this attachment, then I'll make the files available on my account on Thingiverse, together with all of my other knife sharpening designs.

That's pretty neat! If I was still using my WSKO frequently, I would want one of these. Seems like it would be really nice for the way I use the WSKO, without the factory guide.

That is a neat little upgrade. I would definitely use something like that on my WSKO. Nice simple setup :thumbsup:

All 3d printed stuff looks awesome! Unfortunately, I fail to see what it does exactly. In what case (that I honestly don't see :) for me it looks like I can either lay the knife flat against the belt or at a 90 degree angle to dull it) would I use this?

It's to make your grinder more versatile, not really for sharpening only but for minor repairs and small project grinding. I used mine today to reprofile and restore a old broken knife.

The platten gives you a stable backing so the belt is not slack for grinding and the platform gives you a small perpendicular area, again not for sharpening but for small repair projects like laying your knife flat and grinding the spine, as an example.

I've also designed a 45 degree platform that can be screwed on for exact 45 degree grinds if needed.

That looks great! Too bad I don't have a 3D printer. I was thinking about backing the belt with a piece of aluminum or steel.

Also, it would be better to have a 3D piece that fits the BGA.

Not everyone who has a Ken Onion Work Sharp has the Work Sharp blade grinding attachment, so I decided to make my platten attachment for the basic model without the Work Sharp blade grinding attachment.

This makes it possible to have a flat platten surface behind the belt with a basic K.O. Work sharp.

I would love to try this out what do I need to do

Download the files and if you don't have a 3d printer, have them printed somewhere like your local library or from one of the many 3d printing services online.

Install the 2 brass inserts and screws, and simply snap the whole unit onto your Worksharp KO.
