I am an older guy that lives in a small apartment.
Looking for a knife sharpener for my knives. Some really need some work.
I have a sharpener for basic touch up. .....
Any thoughts or reviews on the Work Sharp MK2 ?

This would've been better being posted in the maintenance, tinkering, and embellishments. But that being said I have the WS guided system with the extra sharpening pieces. I will find the link and post it. It works great for me.

As a novice sharpener I first bought a MK 2 model and it did an amazing job on most of my knives. But, I struggled with smaller blades because I’d lose control on the back parts that sorta fell off the little guide bar and that led to some inconsistent edges. Probably some operator error, so I just got the Precision Adjust and really like the way the edges come out but it’s a little tough to use on things like kitchen chef’s knives and such. So my plan is to use the MK 2 for the larger stuff and the PA for smaller, finer edges on pocket knives.

I've been a Work Sharp fan and user for years. My go-to sharpener for almost everything---small blades to large---is the Ken Onion belt sharpener. I prefer it as is, without the blade grinder attachment. And I use it freehand as I find the little angle guide just gets in the way. I use the Sharpie method to mark the edge. Also, I use painters tape to minimize blade scratching.

And, as often said with any type of belt system, practice first on some old low value knives, as there is a learning curve. You especially have to just "sneak up" on the tips to avoid rounding.
