Hi everyone, I'm having a couple of issues freehanding with my Work Sharp sharpener. I can't get my tips sharp. The tips aren't rounded off. They aren't even being touched by the belts. I'm marking the edge with sharpie and everything is being removed except the the very tip.

I've tried lifting the handle. Also, I've tried rotating my knife inward when going toward the tip. Can anyone suggest any techniques to get my tip sharp?

Hi Scrazy,

I would recommend using the sharpening guides first to refine your technique. Once you have mastered using the guides, freehand sharpening becomes much eaiser.
This helps to create the muscle memory for the depth and angle position of the blade against the belt.

Use caution with your 'rotating the knife inward' when sharpening. This can change the bevel angle and it takes the sharpening lower on the edge (versus the entire bevel)
It can also be prone to rolling the edge.

Using a bit more pressure against the belt (but maintaining the same angle) will also get the sharpening all the way to the tip.

If this does not give you the results you want, please call or email our customer service team. We are happy to work with you to get the results you expect.

Stay Sharp Out There.
