I am a knife advocate but probably from the master's view relatively a beginner. However, I do like to sharpen my knives. I have no confidence doing it freehand (from experience) so I am a real fan of the Lansky tools that eliminate figuring angles. Slow but sure. So now I stumble on the Work sharp power knife and tool sharpener. I follow up on you tube and think maybe I could get more done faster AND NOT RUIN MY KNIVES. I'm respectfully asking if following instruction this would be a low risk issue for me.

Hey Jbib, from experience, the WorkSharp has a bit of a learning curve. Obviously, I recommend reading the included directions, but also, if you look up the Ken Onion Edition on Amazon, I think the top review has a lot of tips. https://www.amazon.com/Work-Sharp-Knife-Sharpener-Onion/dp/B07CW4T6RS

The hardest part of the Work Sharp for me is 1.) following the contour of the blade as it's supposed to stay perpendicular to the belt, and 2.) controlling the tip of the blade after the guides stop guiding the knife. But, as you said, Slow but sure. If you take your time with it you can get great almost mirror polished convex edges.
