Hello all, first post. And yes, I did look around before asking.

Just got a new Precision Adjust Elite. While sharpening any of my other knives seems very straight forward, I'm wondering if this is a good option for my Scandi grind knives. With any of my folding or fixed blades, I don't really have any question about how to sharpen. I have several Mora's and a couple Battle Horse knives that are Scandi grind though, and I'm wondering if I'm making too much out of this or if it's really just adjusting the angle until I find what fits the current scandi grind, and then doing it pretty much like any other blade.

For some reason, it seems that even the permanent marker trick may not make it easy to find the angle. Are there any tips or tricks to finding the right angles to do Scandi grinds on the WS? And, I've also watched LOTS of Work Sharp YouTube vids, lots of other peoples sharpening vids, etc. I see lots of guys doing Scandi with stones, but can't seem to find any using a guided system like the Work Sharp.

Honestly, with a scandi grind you should be able to eyeball the stone flat to the bevels. Scandi's are easy to sharpen in that you simply hit the entire bevel. (Easy doesn't mean that it won't be time consuming though).

Keep in mind that 99% of scandi grinds have microbevels, however small. So you'll be turning whatever knife into a true zero scandi.

Start with a mora. The sharpie trick won't hurt but not really sure its necessary unless you're worried about cutting into the flats. I used a crappy smiths fixed angle sharpener to zero a scandi so you should be good to go. However, I would advise adding a microbevel back when you're done.

Mora's are excellent knives to learn on.

Thanks for your reply. It is very easy to eyeball, and feel the whole bevel on a flat stone, it's the adjusting the angle of the work sharp's arm once the knife is locked in, that I'm concerned about. Guess I'll give it a try on my cheapest Mora first (which doesn't need sharpened of course) and see how it goes.
