I’ve been researching and found a number of posts by @Cyrano in 2017 with pictures of edges that he’s made using the Worksharp w/blade grinding attachment (https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ng-and-creating-very-pointy-tips-etc.1466047/). That just blew me away!

I’ve had the system for a while and have always run into the issue of having scratches right above the bevel, such as so:

I just took it for granted that the worksharp can get a great edge, but that this would just happen. This may be elementary, but how can you achieve a razor clean line at the edge of the bevel, and not have the mess in the pictures?

I have yet to buy the blade grinding attachment. I plan on getting one and am interested in the answers for this question.

I would like to know if you have the leather belts.

Do you think that they offer any benefits over the standard range of belts. And would this possibly buff out the scratches?

I used the WS belts and some Amazon 1x18” belts. I don’t have the leather belts and I’m not sure if they would have any benefits over the regular belts. I’m not experienced enough though.

I emailed Worksharp and got the following reply from Ms. Heather Dollarhide:

“...The “feathering” you are seeing is typically from a P120 grit belt as the grit grain on this belt is teller than the Norax belts. Using the X65, X22 and/or X4 will eliminate this issue. Please start by sharpening with the suggested X65 then move down in grit to refine your edge. Let me know your results and if you have any further questions.”

That makes sense! I’ll go with their suggestion and see how it turns out.
