Came across one of these on sell today at Cabelas plus the Memorial Day discount for vets so I grabbed on.

I've never used one before but it seems like a good system based on the offering and add ons you can get.

Any of you guys have any experience with them? I needed a good system for my Busse's but the wicked edge was a little steep

I've never used this work sharp, I did have the older work sharp with the belts but I gave it to my dad until I get a ken onion version. I got an edge pro apex that I've been using for my busses, nice mirror edges also. I couldn't spring for a wicked edge.

I had the older belt drive Worksharp and wore it out. The drive wheels are plastic. Now I have a Ken Onion model and it is a little better. I do all my knives and most of my Friends and family also. These things are not a perfect solution however you can get a 'semi professional' mirror polished convex edge with a little practice. I have a smaller more portable version of the one that you brought. I have three actually, one in each of my BOB's (Home, Car, Office). I figure that they would make good field sharpener with 2 different diamond grits, a ceramic rod and leather strop built into one compact unit. Also a hook sharpener and angle guides...its a pretty complete system.

I say good purchase.

Looks like they are talking about the belt one there.

This one actually has a variety of different stones and an angle plate built in (17 for kitchen 20 for other blades). Even has a leather strop kit you can get.

Whoops sorry about that- didn't even realize it lol
I've only seen the belt ones, but that is pretty sweet. Decent price too.
