Hello all, thought this might interest some of y'all. For those who hav'nt seen a curb machine heres a link.curb machine
knowing I,m a knife nut a fellow employee asked me if I could sharpen his serr. blade, which my lansky ceramic did fine.We are ready mix drivers and Ray has about 17 years on the job. There is usually 3 people in the curb machine operation, the mach. operator who stands on top of the machine(I'll call Bob),the ready mix driver(Ray),and a chute man(call him Hector) who stands at the stands at the bottom of the conveyor and operates the chute. This is why his blade needed sharpened,in Rays words;"I could see the belt was slipping and Bob was reaching between the rollers try to clean off some grease which is stupid. The next thing I hear Bob yelling at Hector to hit the emergency stop on the machine. When I jump out of the truck and see Hector running the other way. I run over and hit the emer. stop and climb up on the machine try to lift up on the belt and release Bobs arm which was grabbed by the top rubber roller. The rollers have pulled Bobs arm in above the elbow and was pulling him in over the top.The conveyor belt is too tight so I pull out my leatherman, open the ser.blade and cut the belt freeing Bobs arm" Good job Ray.

Good job!
Now it's the time that they might want to get a good folder, cause besides a selected few (like the Wave), most of the leathermans' blade takes a while to open. One of them might need it if the rollers caught their clothing and pulling perhaps an arm in.... a folding knife could've free him quite quickly.

calyth, Sometimes I see Ray carry a LB7 in a sheath but not on this day. not much help at home in the sock drawer
