I was wondering how to tell the difference between the original plain edge Worker from 1981 or 1982 and the re-release for the Evolution Edition in 1992? Here are the specs from my 1992 model, I would love to see the same specs from an original, and some pictures if anyone has some handy.

The texts on the knife read:
"SEKI-JAPAN" on the clip side of the blade,
"SPYDERCO-USA" on the non clip side of the blade, and
"US AND FOREIGN PATS. PEND." on the clip

The knife is plain edge with no lanyard hole and a 10mm opening hole. Each side of the handle is 1.5mm thick (they are equal). Thanks in advance for information that anyone has.

Ok here is some pics from mine I "Think" I bought it in 91 or 90 but for the life of me I cant remeber! I carry this knife about 2-3 times a week, greak lil knife sits in the back pocket with the paracoard fob sticking through the button hole so as not to attrack too much attention. I notice a few differences between the 2 knives (wording on clip and lanyard hole) But over all the same.

clip says
"US PATENT 4347665
FOREIGN PATS PEND"

Blade on clip side says
"SEKI-CITY
JAPAN"

Non clip side says
"SPYDERCO
GIN-1 STAINLESS"

Here is a picture showing the 2 different pocket clips used on the Worker.

(please excuse the terrible picture)

The very earliest Worker had very very thin scales. The next model had one thin scale and one thick scale. Both of these models had flat and not beveled edges. The most recent Worker had thick scales with rounded off or chamfered edges. I have an extensive collection of Workers consisting of several different variations and it has been my favorite Spydie for awhile. I will try to get some of them out and take some pictures so you can compare the thickness of the scales.
