Folks
Whilst I appreciate that the Sebenza is intended as a working knife. virtually all of the photos on this site seem to be "brand new" - ie with no marks at all on the blade. Is it because the knives are treated with kid gloves or do they simply not show any effects of normal use?

Mine looks like I scrubbed a mess of pots and pans clean with it. If you do some searchin' you'll find plenty of loved Seb pics here. Probably not a lot of beat-up Ferrari pics over at the Ferrari forum either!

There's plenty of hard-knife users around, I just don't think they post much.

Professor.

It would seem to me that most knives shown here aren't used very hard(mine included). I suspect most that are shown aren't even carried. My knife has been very lightly used since getting this one(in the fall), and it shows a lot of marking on the handle, but none on the blade itself. Being that it's plain handled, it might show more marks than one with designs or overlays, but I'm not sure.

Answer is yes to your comment. Most that you see here in the Just Pic's sticky at the top of this forum are usually safe queens, trophies etc. But, I rotate and use my Sebbies, Mnandi's everyday with normal use and getting dinged up or scratched etc. After a while I'll just send it or them off to the CRK shop to get all pretty again. The non inlay sebbies I use, I prefer a satin shine to them. I take care of that myself. And as far as one-piece knives or the green beret line, they go in for an overhual as well when needed. Just like a car when service is needed to maintain. If you think about it, you never really see pic's of wrecked cars on a calender or in a car show. Mostly fine ones. this all runs along the same lines.

Hope that helps with your question.

What he said . . .

Here's a polished blade large Sebbie of mine that's got some dings in it. I think it was only about a week old in this pic, too. I sold it and replaced it with a standard blade large. You don't wanna know what it looked like when I sold it. Now I'm working on another one.... :D

Kid gloves since most of the cutting I do is is of the kid glove variety. No use to scar it up if I don't have to!

I take pictures of my knives when they are new. And then I can use them, they are tools to me. Very nice well put together tools.

I can get pictures of them as they look now. Kind of a before and after. I also think a lot of knives you see here are safe queens, to me there is nothing wrong with that. If I had enough money I would have safe queens too. As it is now, I use every knife I own.

Here are my two most used large Sebenzas. There are some rub marks on the handles and only a bit of a mark can be seen on one of the blades.
The Sebenzas SW blades just don't show much in the way of use marks.
