I like some of the old traditional patterns like the Nessmuk and Kephart and thought I try doing a Hudson Bay pattern. From what I've seen, they are basically a large chopper as described in Levine's book. This is what i've got so far. Profiled, ground, right out of quench. It's 1/4" thick O1, 8" blade, 5" handle, 1 7/8" at the widest point on the blade with 8 pinholes and lanyard in the handle.

OK, you may not want to alter this current work of art, but, how about a spine with a sawback? you can call it the "RazorBack" option.

Chop with the blade, flip it around and saw with the teeth on the spine.

all that, and a bag of chips!!

that's going to be a beauty... great work scott:thumbup:
i can't wait to see the finished product...

that was a great write up on your kephart knife, in the new tactical knives.. that looks like a great all around utility/camp knife....

Damn that's a big ol knife. Can I have it? lol

That's going to be a hell of a chopper. Now what's this kephart knife? I haven't picked up my issue yet. Any pics?

That will be a very nice addition to your already great line-up of knives. Good for you keeping some of the older patterns around.

Step away from the beer cooler. :D

Scott that is an awesome design. I cant wait until it is finished to see how it comes out I am sure it'll be a great all around camp knife.

Yo Scott...You ever sleep bro?? :)

nice one!

Actually not much.:D I work third shift on my regular job so i don't have a set sleep pattern. I've been up on an off nite 3:00 in the morning doing knife work. :D I'm hoping to get this one finished to take to the Chesapeake knife show.

Grrr ya need to come to NC bro!!!

granted I am far to poor to BUY anything, but I am a VERY charming conversationalist!!

I really like the Hudson Bay Knife design. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

i saw forgo the razorback option...it pretty much destroys the possibility of using a baton...destroys the baton in a few whacks...

Why not leave a smooth spot forward of the sawteeth??
The size of that knife has plenty of room for a 5" or 6" row of teeth and still leave the precious "b spot" (baton spot). :D
