Not that new to the forum but this is my first time starting a thread, so excuse the ignorance if its in the wrong spot or not all there but anyway.....I picked up an RTAK-II about a week ago at a gun show and thought I would give it a try on some year old apple wood (which turned out to be harder than I thought)>
I used my RAT-5 to make the baton but as you will see it didn't last to long.
Over all I would give the RTAK-II a A-. I love the length and weight of the knife. It had a nice balance when chopping and performed everything that I asked it to do. I even got a little worried when I stuck the knife in a knot and it bent, but when I pulled it out the blade was straight as an arrow. The only down side that I found was when I was batoning. After about a 45 min of use, I was really feeling it in hand. The handle/grip was transferring a lot of the vibration from the batoning to my hand, speeding up fatigue. I figure that with some type of wrap or maybe rounding off the handles a little, I could fix it. If anyone has any suggestions for a remedy to the problem, I'm all ears.......thanks
