Anyone familiar with Canvas Micarta for handles? I needed a light colored tough material that would take carving and read where CM would work well.
It sure doesn't sand very well. On my 4X36" it wants to shove it or melt it instead of grinding it. That's my slowest grinder. Anyone know what would remove material well, cleanly? It saws well and I removed some of the edges with the Bandsaw on an angle. I hope it's not hand filing with a 10" handle to do.

What grit are you using to grind? I find that if I use more than 120 grit, it tends to burn. 100 works like a dream. It doesn't look pretty when you first grind it, though. You'll need to do a lot of work by hand.

I was using a used 80 grit belt. Perhaps a new one would work better. It clogs the belt pretty fast.

Do you have one of those big eraser things for cleaning clogged belts? They run about $7 and they get used up real slow. Also, are you grinding with the slack part of the belt?
