I'm experimenting with using springbok horn as a knife handle and have a couple of questions. Is it necessary to fill the hollow horn with something? I've considered epoxy but am concerned that the heat as it sets up might damage the horn and that it might make the handle too heavy. Bondo might be better, but I've never used it for filling that deep a cavity. It may be that only the narrow end needs to be filled to accept that part of the tang closest to the blade. There will be a cap on the large end, with a nut to engage the threaded end of the tang. Assuming I do it right, the cap will keep the tang centered in the horn. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks.

Funny you should post this:thumbup:. I was going to do the same thing except that I have some Blesbuck horns (small ones from some culls I shot) that I had the same questions for. I was thinking about using JB Weld. I will be watching this thread.:D

You guys might want to take your questions to the makers forum, under shop talk. I'm sure they'll be happy to help you out.
