Workout knives

I am wondering what people carry when they exercise.

this is actually a good question. i always go to the gym late at night, and i always make sure to carry something. there have been some car break ins in the parking of the gym, so shady characters are definitely around the area.

i find that of the many different knives i have, for the gym i almost always go for my spyderco frn native, the first version with the s30v steel. the native is small but has enough blade, and is very light. also the lockback provides a reliable detent so i know the knife will not accidentally open in my pocket during the workout. the smooth frn handle makes the knife easy to take out of my pocket in my gym pants.

I've carried a variety but since most of my workout is cardio and I sweat quite a bit, I carry an acid washed Cold Steel American Lawman IWB. I used to carry my kershaw knockout but i'd always end up with blade spotting. Besides the lawman I also enjoy running with my meyerco MAXX-q because it's light and has plenty of blade if I need it.

Weights. :D

Serious answer, on the RARE occasion I go jogging, I'll pick something with a stiff clip like my BM 915, so it doesn't get jostled out and lost, but working out at the gym or at home, I don't carry a knife.

I carry a Spyderco Endura on long runs, in my hydration pack, or bike rides in my rear jersey pocket. It's mostly for potential use in rescue or emergency equipment modification. My biggest threat is vehicles, and there it's avoidance as my big strategy.
