Worksharp KTS and Convex Grind knife

I've gone through the tons of posts on this subject and am still left with some questions. I would be grateful if
anyone can set me straight.
I want to sharpen a convex grind knife, a Bark River or Fallknieven on a Worksharp Knife and Tool sharpener.
I realize that the angle guide system is not designed for this shape grind.
Since when I sharpen these knives on a mousepad with sandpaper, I only move the the knife "away" (spine to edge),
I am thinking that what I should do is not use the ange guide that comes with theworksharp, use the belt freehand
as close as I can get it, and run the edge across the belt so that the abrasion runs spine to edge.
Then, instead of using the other side of the sharpener to run the belt edge to spine as I would do with regular knives,
I should turn the WS around so that I would run the other side again "spine to edge".
Does that make any sense? Thanks.

I understand what you're describing with your WorkSharp, but I haven't done that with my knives. I've used my KO WorkSharp to convex a couple of knives and I just used it as recommended. One side is sharpened spine-to-edge, the other side is sharpened edge-to-spine. It hasn't made any difference in the appearance or function of the edge. Now, understand that I did the convexing with my KOWS, and finished up by hand on loaded strops. I do work spine-to-edge on both sides when freehanding and I always finish up my edges freehand with the strops. When I finished with the KOWS, I checked the edge and didn't notice anything "off" about it from sharpening on the KOWS.

Don't know if this helps you or not, but that's been my limited experience with the WorkSharp.

Thank you, what you desribed is pretty much exactly what I do with my regular knives.
Have you sharpened any Convex blade GRIND knives like Bark River or Fallknieven on your KO WS?

I have...with belt grinding attachment. There is a more vertical setting for the belt (not the angle setting) that works well on my Falknivens.

The investment in the belt grinder attachment was well worth it. It's all I use now for belt sharpening. However, I mostly freehand on wet stones for most of my knives.

When you sharpen a Fallknieven with the grinder attachment on your KOWS, do you run the belt spine to edge only, or do both
directions? Thanks.

Both directions. That works best for me.
