Workshop cleaning

Hi,

Started to clean up my workshop some days ago, the purpouse was a o things to throw away some wood that had been around for ages and probabley would not be used for knives in my lifetime. Found 6 pices of x-cut very dull Birch Mazur, this is 4 of them:

As most of us, Knife Adicts and "Wood Collectors" I a did not have the courage to throw them into the wodden stow. Decided to make a try with no Plastic (stabilized), no fiber, no antler or horn and no metal. Just wood and Birch Bark.

This is the first rough result:

The middle pice is Sallow burl and the handle has to be sized down some 2-4 mm.

There is more to come.

After seven weeks, 2 days in lenseed oil, 3 weeks of hardening of the oil, 2 times Danish Oil and 2 times Black Bison Wax this is the result.

The blade has a stick tang that ends 10-15 mm from the back of the handle so the strenght of the handle will not be any problem. The finish or surface of the handle will have to be taken care of now and then like an oiled shotgun stock.
