I've seen bolos used by American doughboys at various military museums - San Francisco, West Point, France, etc.

Did the US government officially issue bolos to its troops during WWI? If so, who made them?????

Looky here:

pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/bolo.txt :).

I personally dig the 1909 model:).

HTH:D:).

P.S. It's not really mentioned, but besides Springfield arsenal, Plumb was probably the biggest contractor for these. There were a few others, Collins, American Cutlery (A.C.), etc.... If you want one buy it now, they're getting hard to find in nice shape:).

Bob - that was an outstanding writeup you referred me to. Answered a lot of questions. Thanks.
