Watched this movie last night. It celebrates Burt Munro's ingenuity, determination, individualism and passionate pursuit of a single goal - speed. The "Indian" in the title refers to a 1920 Indian motorcycle which Munro (a New Zealander) purchases and continues to modify over a number of years in an ongoing attempt to better the land speed record for such vehicles. Anthony Hopkins plays Munro. His character comes across as a kindly eccentric who is generally well-liked by others in his small community. In the "special features" section of the DVD, there is a portion of a documentary which the same director (Roger Donaldson) did on the real Burt Munro back in 1971. The real Munro actually reflected more of a sense of the joy and enthusiasm of a life of commitment and dedication to a goal than did his character in the movie. I recommend.
