Hi All!
I'm a fellow blade enthusiast, I've been making and studying them for about 15 years. Frustrated with the lack of informative sites regarding swords on the net, and how difficult it was to get useful information out of the sword forums I had used I decided it was time to stop lamenting and do something about it.
Over the last six months I've put together 365 swords and knives along with detailed photos and all available measurements, as well as scholarly articles submitted by fellow academics regarding archaeological finds and studies.
The page also lays out in detail several of the most commonly used typologies for swords and provides extracts from relevant texts.
I'm really proud of the site and what it stands for. The culture of some existing sword forums is frosty to outsiders to say the least and I've spent alot of time culling out the trolls so that genuine folks, whether they be newbies or PhD's feel welcome and protected from griefers. I've been on the receiving end of some pretty concerted hating myself on other sword forums, and that was what pushed me in the direction of making my own site without all that sort of nastiness!
We're now clocking in at about 170,000 visits a month! So its safe to say the site has been an overwhelming success despite it's being less than a year old!
Importantly for the BladeForums crowd I've included a large number of historic knives, with some modern ones (exceptional pieces) to come in due course too. They will have their own section in the coming weeks but currently are counted among the swords though are easy to find with the search function.
If all of the above sounds like the kind of thing that interests you I'd love for you to come and have a look. Us sword guys needed a reference like this an I'm proud to say we now have one.
My expertise is European Swords not modern knives, though I would love to have a detailed section on modern knives, so any genuinely knowledgeable and nice folks who want to contribute to the burgeoning knife section will be warmly received.

All the best,
