I ordered my Hog Badger with the intent on leaving the coating on it so I went with black because to my eye a well used black blade still looks pretty good. Now I'm kind of thinking about changing it to silver, sage or green to match one of my other blades. So......let's see some of those used and abused coated blades!

I have a Basic 3 with the standard black crinkle finish that I used to cut a lot of cardboard. The finish got fairly smooth, but I like the way it looks, so I still choose black when I order a coated knife.

Worn black looks awesome. Leave it black and give it love marks.

I have to tell you Rob, watching your vids, drooling over your knives all summer, watching you and others beat those CS blades i can only dream of have added a whole new dimension to what it means to own a Busse- They are meant to thrash!!! The first time I watched you beating the hell out of your CS MOAB I was yelling at the laptop and laughing after so much time looking at so many busse Glamour photoshoot, CS pieces lying on red silk pillows, polished up under perfect lighting ... I can't type what I was saying - but it was similar to your video opening up the WTF. That's the moment I knew this wasn't a bunch of collector types, you really beat on em! It meant a lot to this piglet- That's why each new knife I get the first thing I'll do is beat on my ashhole stump out of respect!
Worn black looks great! pull that out and everyone will know, it gets used! Can always hit it with some BBQ grill black for a saturday night out by the fire pit :D :D

Desert sage hides its wear pretty well. BUT, it is the crinkliest that I've tried; I don't buy it anymore for that reason.
To me, muddy wears well, and doesn't look bad while wearing/worn. Tanker gray is similar to desert sage in not showing wear too bad, and it isn't very crinkly, either. The bronze that I've had is quite crinkly, too, but not as bad as desert sage. I haven't beaten on a bronze enough to tell you how it wears, though.

My favorite are muddy, midnight blue (don't have a good worn blade of it yet, though), and black, in that order, for the most part. midnight and black are almost tied for second. I just really love me some muddy, though.

Sorry I don't have any good photos, just verbal descriptions.

Glad you like the vids mate. :) go hard or go home!! That said, I do have a few precious ones that don't see hard use. :D

Murman Murman - You are right about the silver. My Burp marked up right away from just a few whacks much worse than the black on the DTBM. It got smooth shiny right away and stayed there. I haven't used it enough to start wearing off.
A few of my orders I've done silver for stripping, decent stripper makes it falls off, the rest I don't plan to touch for now.
