Hey, so last week i got a kershaw leek, it has worked fine since, but today as i tried to deploy it with the flipper, the thing stopped about 2/5 of the way, now it wont even spring open with the thumbstud, i know it is probably just that the spring mechanism is worn out, but im cautious to dissesemble it to check, has anyone else had this issue?
Also, since i don't really know much about kershaws speed safe, is there like a replacement i can buy for it, or should i just send it to kershaw for a replacement, i do know that its not the product, or any deffects, i have just used it a lot.
Any details of how I should fix this?
(Note: I know this is a bad format, and u probably don't know what im asking so here is a sum: how can i determine the source of the problem, and how would i fix it)
Thanks

It's the torsion bar (spring) inside; they break at some point. You can either send it to Kershaw and they'll fix it for free/ or get a torx set, tear her down and replace it yourself (Kershaw will send the part for free to your door) * replacement is easier than it may seem.

First of all I assume you haven't messed with the pivot screw? (If you tighten it to much the assist wont work) secondly When you open it can you feel the pressure of the spring trying to open the blade? If not, then yes the torsion bar is broken, so you can either send it into kershaw for repair, or request they send you one and you can instal it yourself (there's a bunch of vids on youtube) lastly just press the report button (on the bottom left of your post) and say you want it moved to MT&E.

Ok, thanks, so would i need the star headed screw drivers because i have one with replacable head, and i have bits that fit the main pivot screw and the side ones, will that work, or do i need different tools for the inner stuff?

Yup the torx (;)) bits are all you need, I believe a T9 for the pivot screw and a T6 for the body screws:thumbup: (I'll see if I can find a vid)

First, nope havent touched it, second, no pressure what so ever.
Thanks, also, do i need any paper work or anything to send it to kershaw. As the box i got it in is gone, all i have is the knife.

Once you get the pivot and handle screws off out wont need any more tools. They're pretty simple inside, and there's lots if videos on YouTube. My 16 year old brother didn't have any problems taking his Cryo apart and putting it back together, and it's very similar.

Here's the warranty info,

Here's a good vid on how to take it apart to...

Replacing the torsion bar is pretty straightforward. If you contact Kershaw's warranty department, they will send one out to you.

You'll need a Torx 6 and 8 screwdriver. Jimmer has some info written up in this thread.

Here is a video from Kershaw showing disassembly of a Blur. It is pretty much the same process for the Leek (and every other Speedsafe knife).

It's really not that hard to take apart. Trust me, I was the same way when I disassembled my first Speedsafe knife. For future reference, whenever you're taking apart a Speedsafe knife with the torsion bat still intact, make sure the blade is open during disassembly.

Super easy. I took two of them apart and put them back together in 5 minutes to make a Frankenleek.
