Worst Injury?

I took the tape off a little pre-maturely while trying some of Air Cameron's tricks and ended up with a sliced open middle finger. Now with my middle finger impaired it is difficult to drive. That got me thinking about the injuries I've had, and about the worst ones so far have been a sliced palm and a full-force stab in the foot. What have been your injuries, especially you bali-sword owners and complete nutcases?

well mine is nowhere near those,

but,

I had just gotten my BM42- still VERY sharp. I was flipping it the second day I owned it; I was laying down and I did a finger roll-over. well thanks to that bitch called gravity, it went a little too low. All of a sudden it felt like my knuckle was taking a deep deep breath. About 10 seconds later I look at it, it's all white, and there's a GOOD portion of the knuckle hanging off by a piece of skin. It was all white and stuff. Took quite a lot of time and paper towel to stop the bleeding. I do have a scar from it, but you can't see it because it's right on a wrinkle

Didn't think that I had anything to add to this the first time I read it, a few hours ago. Then about 20 min ago I was tossing my bali into the air with my left hand and catching it with my right. made a few good ones then caught a solid hit to the index finger with my just out of the box 43...

#$%^*@&$#$&@$(&@$#!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, we hate it when that happens. Do I got get sewn up or not? I've seen the hotspitals in this country before :barf:

I think I'll deal with this myself. bet I nail it next time!

It's amazing what we sacrifice for our art :)

I was trying to videotape some bali footage one day so I could post some vids. Trying to impress the camera , I locked the bali open, and using my right hand, tossed from behind over my right shoulder and tried to catch it again in my right hand. Well, the tip of the blade came right down at the base of my thumb by my palm, severed a tendon, and bounced off. It disabled my poor thumb for a week or two, but as a silver lining, it forced me to learn thumbless manipulation. As soon as I can find a way to get the tape to mpeg, I'll have a great bali-bloopers tape. :D :D

I've never had a really bad injury, just the basic cuts and blood. ;) Even with all my aerials I am never cut bad (with my over-the-shoulder I just poke the palm of my hand  it is really annoying). Even flipping a BaliSword for a week I didn't get hurt once (about 3" OAL and weighed over 3 lbs, it was really awesome and I loved it!! :D). I'll have a very bad injury once I get a 49-01, I will do most things with it, including aerials :D I know, I know, I will be careful (I was uncharacteristically careful while first flipping the BaliSword, one slip and I would have had a few less fingers or a hand, no kidding ). If I hurt myself too badly then I might be the first person to sell their 49 :p but that is if I cut off a finger or cut a few tendons. ;)

DAMN!!! WHERE IN THE BLUE HELL DID YOU GET A URANIUM BALISONG?!!!!! :D

Well, no tendon severing or horribly exposed tissue here, but I've had my fair share of your typical slices and punctures, and not just from balisongs. My MA buddy and I used to play catch with throwing stars and spar with live steel!:D I've had to stitch the top side of my left wrist from an incident with a cold steel folding tanto (those serration's where nasty) but that was not from sparring (you just don't spar with serrated blades:eek: )

Wait a minute, they don't count. You didn't inflict those on yourself.....:D

Tony (ahead of 7cain in posting):D

Actually, it WAS my fault that the blade made contact with the back of my hand. I was practicing some solo Kali moves with my folders (obviously before I knew what I was doing) and my left arm crossed under my right arm but I let the blade in my right hand hang to low and accidentally ran my left wrist all the way down the edge. I'd have to say that is my worse self inflicted wound.:o Well, that was many years ago and I am happy to report only minor cuts since that lesson in blade awareness.

I'm lagging Tony, but don't worry, I'll catch back up somehow:rolleyes:

LOL, yeah, that would be crazy if I did mean 3" :D but I meant 3', a 3" bali that weighed 3 lbs would be scary to see. :D

I think even Clay would have difficulty manipulating it! But it would make a good projectile weapon! Just lob it at your opponent and watch him fly back like he got punched in the chest with a jackhammer! okay so I may be exagerating a little;)

(and 7Cain pulls into the lead! Oh will this ever end...):p

LOL, a suitable first post for me..

I was transporting this really sharp yet really crappy "Cal-Hawk Defender hunting knife" across the room in its' box (no sheath) with it not being taped well. The knife slipped out (as heavy as it is) and stabbed me RIGHT in the foot. :o

Blood pooled on the floor, but it missed any /major/ arteries.

I have no balisong yet, (I've decided against getting a Jaguar based on all the horror stories here and decided to save up for a BM.. the cheapest model whatsoever, probably)

I was a little relieved when you decided not to keep the Balisword and sent it to me..., I knew the temptation of testing Dr. Newtons Laws would be to much for you to resist, and was very happy to find that all (10) fingerprints were still on it when it arrived :) !!

The one you had actually works a little better than mine after I loosened 'em both up some. Now if I only had the finger strength for "The Pinch" of a latch drop  !!

You chose well!! We like you as "Air Cameron" far more than the potential of ending up as "Stump-Guy"!!!!!

Worst injury??? Hmmm...for me, a 6 stitch job on the inside of my left forearm (with a Samson Bowie)..., not a bad cut really, but at least a nice knife to get sliced with  ...

Worst I've seen???

A guy named Dan Stone...1988...severed a tendon and a considerable amount of nerve tissue in his left hand doing aerials at a Carnival with an International Series Tanto...still has limited movement of the last three fingers of his left hand :( !! The good news is that he is still an extremely proficient martial artist, but far less into "tricks" now.
