Worst Knife?

We have more threads here than I can count about which is the best knife for various activities and price ranges. I thought it would be interesting to get ideas on the worst overall design that you've ever seen. Something that common sense dictates just should not be made or sold to anybody. Money is no concern, it would actually be even cooler to hear of a expensive knife that doesn't work. Not trying to start a flame-off or anything, just trying to get some idea of what people consider a dead end in knife design.

My vote wold go to the item seem here: http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/productview.jhtml?pid=33212700&pcatid=1&catid=111

I honestly don't know who would buy this thing, I certainly wouldn't hammer anything hard with it, and if you're no using the hammer then basicly you're carrying a 12 oz. slipjoint with a bit set. Looks pretty uncomfortable for pocket carry too. Apprently this is priced to compete with the Pulse and smaller Gerber multitools, either of which I would pick over this thing, even if I had to drive nails with a rock.

There was a Beretta knife, years ago, that used a 9mm pistol cartridge as the lock toggle. It was inlaid into the Kraton handle, and once the 440C blade was open, you would push on the primer end of the cartridge to unlock the blade. Pretty cool, huh? When I received mine in the mail, years ago, I was very excited. I opened the blade with great anticipation and WHAM! the spring tension under the bullet toggle shot it totally out of the handle! That fine day has stuck with me ever since. So, this is not the worst knife ever, but it really honked me off at the time.

that sharper image Hammer multi-tool is worse than anything I could imagine.

When I was young, there was a massive influx of Buck 110 ripoffs made in Pakistan, if I ever find a knife worse than these I'd

As I have been screaming about for years now THE CLIPHANGER. Good to read that others now share my distaste for this POS.

Wire Edge - LOL! I think they still make this knife, part of the Cartridge Series Lockbacks or something like that.

Care to expand on this? I own a few Gerbers (EZ out, Gator, Mini Gator, all in ATS-34) and find them to be excellent EDC's and affordable too.

You are absolutely right...you should not be starting a flame war.

Odd, I thought i made if pretty clear that I wasn't. I thought this would provide a good contrast to the multitude of threads that are full of glowing praise for qualtiy knives. Honestly, what would you do with a hammer with a knife coming out of the bottom?

Seems to me that everybody has done a good job of keeping it friendly.

Calm down.

I second the Cliphanger. The "Clip"hanger part was acool concept and I'd like to see more knives with a carry system like this, but the knife sucked big time.

For me though, the Cold Steel Triple Action rates high on the POS'ometer. I had the dagger version and the rear pivot broke a month after I bought it.

...Then I got a Buck/Strider and saw the light

Anything ever referred to on Television as a "Frame" or any wierdo piece of crap ever designed by "Kit Rae."

Cliphanger all the way. Although, the Schrade Avatar is about the most HIDEOUS knife I have EVER seen.
Thanks,
Matt

I once went into a knife shop and saw a chinese copy of the MOD lady hawk. I asked to see it, and I opened it. Something just sounded wrong about the way the lock clicked into place. I Looked closely and discovered that the knife had a PLASTIC locking liner. Who would ever think that this was a good idea??? Number 2 would be the shrade beast (the giant green knife in the cliphanger series). It's not a cliphanger persay, but it has the same patern in a four inch blade and a cheasy plastic handle. It feels like a toy.

GronK, i really should have said that a lot of gerbers suck.

my Multitool, is junk.

do a search on the spectre as well

I have to agree with the Schrade Cliphanger.:barf: :barf: :barf:

However, the worst I've seen are the "Made in China" ripoffs sold at flea markets, swap meets, etc...
