Mine was when a slipjoint closed on my fingers. (buck companion) it cut the flesh all the way to the bone, 6 years later I still have the scar. but that isnt nearly as bad as what happened to my brother about 9 years ago. we were on a road trip to florida and he was hungry and we had a huge bar of chocolate with us. he was trying to cut off a piece and being scared of scrathching up the console of the brand new car, he very stupidly tried to stab it on his knee. I guess he underestimated the dull looking tip of the lockback (EKA folder) and it went all the way through the choclate and got buried upto the hilt in his leg, about 4 inches. blood was terrible, and it was the first time seeing an actuall knife stab (5 years old) I remember being to scared to go near the eka for who knows how long.
so what was the worst youv been biten?

I've got a nice line on my arm that's healing up nicely, not bad, but had it been about 1cm over, it'd have gone lengthwise along one of the major wrist veins. came really close to hospitalization, but came away with a bad scratch.

My mom got me a set of x-acto blades back in the day (was my grandfathers set) when I was around 10-12. Ended up almost cutting the top of a finger off. Bleed like a stuck pig, could separate the flesh and see a little bit of bone. No stitches and still have the scar today.

I cut my leg with my FFBM and it went into the bone and blood squirted into the air. I lost several pints of blood and thank goodness my family was there to call 911 because by the time I made it into the house I was light headed. It looked like a murder scene with blood spots every place my foot landed and it squirted.Ended up with lots of stiches and nerve damage.

I'll preface this granting permission to any forumite here to feel free to laugh their @$$ off at this one.

In 1989, while doing restaurant work, I took a dare from a co-worker throw my Buck 119 and 'make it stick'. It didn't stick, but it flew back and caught me, point first, in the abdomen. Only a 1/2" cut, but at the emergency room, the doctors had to open it up to 1-1/2" long to make sure there was no damage to my innards. Left me with a scar that looks nasty. Funny thing was, it didn't hurt that bad at all. It did itch, though.

I had to explain to a cop in the ER about my injury, as at that time, any person with a knife injury was thoroughly questioned by the police as a possible assault. I lied and said that I cut myself with a filet knife.

After that, my co-workers would walk up and hand me spoons, forks, keys, mixing bowls, spatulas, etc. and ask if I could 'throw it and make it stick'. I never lived that one down.

thx - cpr
