Worth it to buy conversion kits for Surefire?

I have a G2 and G3, both are incandescent lights. Batteries are too expensive for these lights, and I'd like to switch to LED. Can I go LED/incandescent optional, or does it have to be one or the other? I would just go ahead and get a new G2L, but can't right now. The conversion kits for both lights would cost as much as a G2L. Any ideas?

It has to be one or the other. I bought a led drop in for my 6P on flea-bay for around 10 bucks a few years ago. You may need to remove the spring.

Find a trusted ebayer who sells the 3 or 5 mode drop ins and never look back. For under $15 you can have a brighter LED than the G2L and have mode selections.

The have newer models with much better output and runtimes. I think one is the G2X pro or something like that. My moms G2 needs the kit and my dads 6P needs a LED drop-in. They also make rechargeable batteries. You may want to give them some consideration.

The nitrolon head on the G2 and G3 will not handle D26 LED dropins well so you should either go with a low power drop in or go with the complete surefire head or get a Z44 head and a led Dropin. Checkout CPF marketplace you may be able to get the KX4 head or Z44 head much cheaper than MSRP.
