Would $50 be throwing money away on a Safari Hunter?

Stag Safari Hunter on a site somewhere. Looks pretty decent, but the photos are teh suck.

As far as I can tell it is imitation or the seller didn't know he had real stag, either is cool with me, but what are the maintenance differences between imitation and animal stag?

Sorry it's a Victorinox Safari Hunter, looks like the regular imitation stag!

I bought a Solo Plus recently and love it, I'm hoping I'll like the fully equipped 108mm as well.

Looks nice.
Personally, i'd stay away from it because of the imitation stag, but i'm sure you would be more than happy with it.

I didn't expect to like the Solo Plus I picked up all that much, I've been on an Alox kick almost since getting into SAKs, but the nylon feels pretty good, and I really just liked the dimensions and function of the Solo. So I'm hoping the probably imitation stag Hunter is going to have the same qualities, only with a reamer and the saw/opener!

There's also a more available/reasonably priced Victorinox Safari Hunter with the red nylon instead of the fake stag - I carry one with me on weekends, and it's my favorite folder. There's also the Vic Safari Trooper if you want a thinner knife without the gutting blade.

I love the red nylon and I was looking for a Safari Trooper or Victorinox GAK, but that's what I found. And an Italian GAK that's ok but not Vic. And a Solo Plus that's outstanding.

Just couldn't find one before that stag Hunter.
