I think the 690 is a great looking knife. But I hate liner locks. Mostly just a personal preference.

Anyone else like to see a Axis 690?

Not me. For that knife's function a liner lock is fine. I also think that the axis might take away from the looks of the knife. It is just so smooth and clean the way it is now.

I consider my 690 to be more of a light use gentlemens knife, so the liner lock suits me fine. Overall, I do prefer the axis lock for it's reliability. IMHO the axis lock would take away from the smooth look and lines of the 690.

1togofst beat me to it.....

I am somewhat distrustful of liner locks, but mostly, I just don't like them. "Hate" was probably too strong a word. But I much prefer the Axis lock. Smooth opening and smooth closing. Not that liner locks are not smooth, but I find that it easier to unlock the Axis than a recessed liner lock.

Damn......never mind.....I thought you were giving away some prototype knives, by the title of your thread......

:p

Hey, I am always in favor or replacing a liner lock with an Axis lock. The 690DM is my dress EDC right now, and I don't have a problem with a liner lock in that role. I always carry an Axis or frame lock backup.
