Would anyone else like to have a Sebenza with stonewashed handle scales?

Greetings:

I beheld a Ti-Lock the other day and liked lots of things about it, including its stonewashed handles. I gots ta thinkin' that a Sebenza with the same handle finish would be great. I emailed CRK and got a prompt and friendly response from Heather stating that there aren't any plans in the works but that anything's possible. I'd like to know if anyone else shares my interest in this feature--in the hope that if enough other folks express interest (and of course it may just be my own idiosynchratic interest), perhaps CRK will produce them in the future.:)

Cheers,
Isaeus

I've seen members here post pictures of an Umnumzaan and a large Seb that have been stonewashed, and I think it looks great. I think it was atony and chadriv, but I may be wrong.

Our friend here atony has a stone washed large Regular. It looks pretty nice to me.:thumbup:

I'm sure he won't mind having his picture stolen. :p

I've read that some folks do like the stonewashed finish as any kind of key scraping/coin scraping just blends right in with the finish.
For me, I don't think I would want it, I tend to like sculpted scales and of course scales with all types of graphics on them. If they did stonewashed with designs, possible inlays, now I'd likely be all over that!

Heres an umnum with a unique finish that I really like. It was done by a member here
and it was recently on the exchange. Im not sure if it was just sandblasted again or
beadblasted. Hope he doesnt mind me posting the pic.

If I remember correctly Atony did that finish himself. A simple DIY stonewash by breaking up a porcelin plate and placing the pieces(or hard stones) in a shaker with some water and soap along with the scales(duct tape inside of scale and lock face, possibly extra piece on detent). Then shake to desired finish. It came out pretty good.

I like the look of the stonewash, just like the stonewashed xm-18's. As good as it looks and shows virtually no wear, I actually prefer the blasted over look. For One, the blasted gives it a little more grip, while the stonewashed is a bit slippy. The xm's have the G10 scale to give good grip, while the sebenza doesn't. Even a scotchbright treatment is a little too slippery for me personally. And Second, I actually like seeing the scuffs on the Ti frame.....every little scuff is an adventure that you had with your sebenza/umnumzaan, etc.

Heh, funny you would post that pic. I think that's the knife I just bought. It's certainly going to be a user so after a while I'll post how the finish has worn. :) Should be here soon.

I saw that Seb in another thread and I LOVE the look of it! It adds to the utilitarian quality of the Sebenza.

It's been a while since I've tumbled a set of scales. I'll do a small reg this weekend and post some pics later in the week.:)

+1 Lisa..Stonewash and design, I'd be all over it.

My large Sebenza is very prone to scratching. I would like to see an anodize finish placed over whatever type of polish or non-polish is put on the scales.

Bead blast Ti is notorious for marring quickly and easily. I suppose the trade off is that is can be re done somewhat easily compared to anodizing

Mine have held up really well, definitely better than the sand blasted finish.
