Hi everyone:),

While looking through some back issues of Blade, I came upon an article in which they had various fellow's speculate on what Jim Bowie would carry if he was alive today. I found this to be a very interesting topic.

As I read though the article, I started to wonder what I would put in Bowie's hand in 2003. I had it all figured out, studying classic Bowie's associated with him, I figured he would want something light, and fast, with clean lines. I figured something in the vein of a D.E. Henry, Moran, Fisk, or Bagwell.

But, then I began to wonder "Would Bowie bow to modern day pressures, and carry something else ?". In that case, I figured he'd what something of high quality, clean lines, etc.... In that case, I figured something along the lines of a Lake, Horn, etc....

Your thought's:D:).

Bob Bowie wants to know what Jim Bowie would carry today, heck Bob no one even knows what Jim's knife really looked like in the first place and your guess what he would carry today is as good as anyone's. LOL

My guess is he would carry a HK full auto and a good hand forged Bowie in 1095, talk about a good cutting knife and a killer gun, Jim really would love those i believe and wish he could take them back to the Alamo with him. hehe

Cheers!

You guys prob know more about the legend than me.

Wasnt one of his motivaions for carrying his fable beefy fixedblade because in a confrontation with his nemesis (pre-sandbar) he tried to wrassle the guy and open his folder? Because the folder was obviously not one-handed he had to try and grapple and use his teeth to open it wich wasnt exactly effective.

Seemed to me he was a knife-fighter and made his decision because he wanted something he could trust to not break and be deployed quickly.

He'd prob be into tactical things..fast deploying fixed-blades and folders. So when he met his nemesis again he wounld be quick on the draw with something strong and reliable....and not have to use his teeth.

I'd like to think that good ol' Jim would want to carry a Bagwell Hell's Belle (or if he were on a tight budget), perhaps an Ontario/Bagwell Hell's Belle. To me, that is the ultimate "fighting Bowie knife".:).

Yes i believe your right about that fight TheSkinwalkeR!
