I have a large regular that I really like. I got the fever for a large classic. Do you think I would like it, if I like the regular? I have a small wood classsic I am trying to trade for one. I was thinking about carrying the regular at work, and the classic the rest of the time. Does a man need two?,haha.

Well, Need or want is the question? I like to have a couple different ones to use. As for the liking og the Classic, I bought a Regular first and didn't think I would like the Classic. Wrong! I love it. I can open it easier and it feels similar in hand to the regular. I do like the slightly fuller blade of the regular over the classic but I can overlook that for feel.

No you don't need two. But I think that (and here goes Scott the broken record) a large classic Micarta with serrations is the perfect EDC for around the house. The inlay gives it a better grip. I love the large regular too but to tell you the truth I can't really teel that much difference between the two.;)

I agree with Scott Dog! I bought a Lg. Classic Micarta with serrations because of a post from Scott Dog. You want a user, buy one of these. Or, if you don't want serrations, get the Micarta Plain.

I will throw in another plug for the large Micarta classic. From the moment you pick it up and grasp it, you realize that it is knocking on the door of pocket knife perfection. I don't know what could be done to make it any more useful or better.

I've got a plain large regular as well and loving it to pieces. So, obviously thinking of next one as well...

Why Micarta? I've never seen one except in pictures, so I wonder why so many recommend Micarta? Looking at pics, certain wood inlays like Cocobolo looks much nicer to me than the the 'plastic' black Micarta.

Is it just because Micarta is very tough material and last better than wood or why do so many people prefer it?

I'm seriously thinking about a Cocobolo with dual finish blade. Why should I concider Micarta instead?

The Micarta has a more textured feel and as a manmade material it is uneffected by hot or cold (it won't swell or contract) and it actually gets grippier when wet. I agree that the wood inlays look nicer and are in some cases less expensive than the Micarta and to be fair the stabilzed wood is very durable and holds up well under use and if it gets scratched it can be refinished. I've never heard of anyone having any trouble with the wood and if you do have any trouble CRK will make it right. Personally I think of the Micarta as the ultimate utilitarian inlay. With the available serrations I think it makes it a very versitle knife. I guess it comes down to personal choice, I like it because it looks "tougher". That may sound immature but that's what I think. It just think it really looks cool. ;)

Sorry to jack the thread slightly, but this is exactly the input I'm lookin' for. I am so wanting a small wood inlay (ironwood or cocobolo) for an everyday user to replace my current RSK-mini EDC.

Does the inlay hold up well? It looks gorgeous.

In my experience the wood holds up very well for daily useage. It actually gets darker with use and the grain stands out more, gives it an aged look that I find very:cool: !
