glover1 .jpg Does anyone know anything about this maker ? This is a slip joint with very nice stag scales that appears to be old. It has a hand etched on the tang that says hand made j h glover on 1 side and hand made on the other side. The round brass shield on the stag handle has a hand on it with made engraved on the fingers with j h glover maker, under the hand.glover2.jpgglover3.jpg

Yes I saw that youtube on one of his knives. The reason I think it could be old is the stag scales have a nice patina on them that I wouldn't expect on a newer knife. but i could be wrong. I have been collecting old Marbles fixed blades for years, living 20 miles from gladstone, Escanaba, mich. I see allot of them and how the stag changes with the years. I am just getting into custom folders so there is allot I need to learn about the old and new masters.

I am looking at the Custom Knife II which was published in 1974 and they show a James Glover making knives. At 39 he had made folders less than a year. Hemade single or double blade folders with a shell bottom of your choice. Yes crude with costs from $35 to $150. He was from Baldwyn, Mississippi.

Thanks argel55. I thought it was from the 60s or 70s. If they sold from $35 to $150 when gas was 60 cents, a new case knife was under $10.00. Jumbo night at the bar was $1.00 a quart (during wet t shirt night) that is not cheap. I know, I got out of the service in 75.
