I just bought this set and I was wondering if anyone can tell me when they were made and what the model numbers of the individual knives are.

WOW, you sure are fast Dave :D That is a sweet set, and great price IMHO also!! Sorry I don't know anything about them, but they are cool!

NICE score!!!!!!!!

I believe the small one is a model 107

Haven't ever seen a model number associated to the other two other than Empress Trio, when they came in the wooden holder for the kitchen.

The when part is I believe 1985 or earlier. Buck, I think, went to block letters in 1986. Hopefully Joe H. or CJ will look and be able to answer your questions.

I've been wanting the set, but this is the first time I've had the chance at one. I know the seller and I've bought several knives from him both on and off eBay, so I knew that they would be exactly as he described them.

That's what I was thinking (107) also.

Yeah, but I wasn't sure if that was also the case with the kitchen sets. I guess a start would be to go to the old catalogs for a look.

Dave, Thats the Empress Trio set Model # 200 . They did not have individual model #'s . The set first came out in 1973, was discussed much before that . Yours looks to be from around late 70's (79) because of the box perhaps even later . The earlier sets had a walnut display box and micarta handles (black and burgundy) . They were stamped two line in the old English script . Yours is still a great looking set . Good buy . Thanks for showing . DM

Check out page 15 of the 1993 Catalog, if you have one. They don't show the "gift box", but the knives look correct, including the script style for "Buck".

That same box came with my Akonua 402 and it has that same velvet type insert with divots and it is from 1972-80 . I'm pretty sure I'm at the beginning of when that box was used . Buck may have used the same box for a longer time . Gene Bayer founding BCCI member #14 was present at the 20yr. Reunion and showed me some of those same knives the small one and medium . They were just the knives not the entire set and not in a box . But the knives looked just like Plumbers . Walnut handles and same stamp, same location and he said they were from the early 80's . I suspect they are of 425 steel . DM

That's a great knife set Dave! You know it's funny that I think nothing of pulling the trigger on a custom 110 for $200 plus that I will likely never use yet my kitchen knives are pretty much junk.I never gave it much thought until I saw that set David Martin bought.I plan to get a set of Buck kitchen knives in the near future.

Skyhorse, The Buck Kitchen set is just great . Both my wife and I enjoy using them so much . A center piece in the kitchen . DM
