Would like opinions on this fixed blade please

I own a Buck nighthawk short 650 fixed blade. It is half-serrated, and is a good size for a fixed blade in my opinion. Occasionally, I wear it on my belt under a sport coat or blazer. I find it to be not too big, and not too small.
I was wondering if anyone else had this economical blade, and if so, what is the best way to sharpen it? I don't have a Sharpmaker, but I have some ceramic rods that are rather thin, and a whet stone. Is this blade capable of taking a good edge? What kind of steel does this model have?

i've had both the short nighthawk and the full length and i prefer the full size for one reason, plain edge. if i can find a short nighthawk with a plain edge i'll be all over it. pretty much a bullet proof knife. i don't care much for the sheath though. As for sharpening i use a stone for the plain edge and a ceramic rod for the serrations. later,ahgar
