would the custom shop use customer supplied handle material?

Hypothetical question: If I found a really nice chunk of wood from custom knife show (or the internet or whereever), or other material, would the Busse custom shop be willing to put it on the handle for me (or you)?
Providing, of course that it is thick enough, and is a "standard" material that Busse is used to working with. (not like titanium or damascus, or other uncommon or difficult to work with handle material)

If I were them I wouldn't. Things happen.

Say you bought that nice piece of wood, or had one that had family significance (oak from great-granddaddy's barn, for instance), and it had a hidden flaw that caused it to break into two unusable pieces during shaping. Would you be upset? Would you be on this forum (or others) bad-mouthing Busse? Maybe not, but many people would, or they would expect recompense.

My guess is that it is not worth the potential hassle to Busse.

We cannot use materials supplied by anyone else because then we will not be able to cover it under our lifetime warrantee.

Okay.... I was just curious about that. thanks for the info.
PS.... Are we ever going to see Carbon Fiber handles on a special edition........... maybe?
The Silver and'/or Blue twill G10 also looks really awesome.

Natural materials are difficult to work with and I generally like to hand pic materials as I have used enough to know where problems will be. I try to keep a large supply on hand whenever possible. Atleast if a piece break when working on the handle it is us that is out the material cost and not the customer.

If you are looking for something specific just let me know as I have lots of sources to get ahold of lots of different things if I do not have it on hand.
