Would you buy a 3" XM in M390 with no choil?

The first XM I ever had was a 3" and I didn't dig it.
The detent was weak and I thought that it would have been so much better without the choil.

Recently I saw that a 3.5" run was made with M390 and... NO CHOIL.
I had one within a week and am totally enamored with this knife.
The detent is just where I want it, the ergos are great, and there's more cutting edge without the choil.

I'm a CRK guy, and I just sold a second very nice Sebenza to buy a second of this run.
That's pretty significant for me.

I was helping a buddy pull up a couple rooms of carpet Saturday and was not at all hesitant to cut a bunch up with this XM.
If I had a Sebenza in my pocket I know that I could just as easily have used it for the same job, but I would have been a little hesitant.

Anyway, I would really like to see a run of these exact knives in 3".

I emailed DLT last week and they said that there aren't any plans to do so as of now, but it's not at all out of the realm of possibility (my paraphrase).

Would a 3" spanto XM in M390 with no choil in battle black make anyone else besides me do a happy dance?

I love hinderers, Gen 4 have a great detent, they flip or open really good, I own a Xm-18 3.5", xm-18 3.5" fatty and an MP-1, and all of them flip incredible, I say go for it, you'll love it

Oh I'd absolutely go for it if they currently existed!
Hopefully if there's enough people agreeing here I can send Hinderer an email with a link to this thread and do a little lobbying... ;)

I've seen some, for sale, don't remember were, Whitty might know when the 3" batch will get produced, a batch of Fatty's just came out, but I think you can find one if you look for it

The 3.5" ones I'm talking about were an exclusive run with no choil for DLT Trading.
There are probably M390 3" out there, but there definitely aren't any without the choil.
Unless I'm an idiot and missed them, which has been known to happen occasionally.
You should seem me when the wife sends me to the grocery store...

I agree, a 3" no choil slicer needs to happen next! I hope DLT Trading tries for another exclusive. If not, I'm happy with the 3.5". I haven't had the urge to buy another knife and it has been in my pocket everyday since I got it. I've convinced myself I will not buy another knife unless it is a Hinderer 3" slicer grind without a choil and I'd buy at least 2.

I have 2 xm's right now: both 3.5s, one is a fatty spanto and the other is non-fatty spearpoint. I like them both. The no-choil variant is on my short "to get" list.

that said, I would go for a 3in. having never had one. I just hope that it wouldn't be too small. Judging from pics, it should be okay.

Currently have XM-18 3.5" Bowie & XM-18 3.5" Fatty Spanto. Would definitely go for a 3" to complete the family, especially since they're so hard to find; battle black would just make it sweeter.

I asked the same question when I saw DLT's run 3.5 inch Hinderers. Maybe if enough people respond to this thread...

I agree with everything you said.

Id rather have a 3" choiless m390 slicer or spear point.

I like my 3" slicer now but that'd make it awesome

Yeah, a slicer would be sweet.
I didn't like the 3" slicer I originally had because of the choil.
If all they released in choilless 3" was a slicer I'd absolutely buy one.
At least one...

Love gen 4 too but in my personal experience the detents have been a crap shoot. I've had about 5 go through my hands and 3 had very funky detents.

One was ridiculous crazy tight like prying open the jaws of a shark. Painful to flip lol And it was definitely the detent. Ended up selling that one to a friend. They wanted to tackle it themselves I said God bless.

Then there was a fatty that practically opened itself if you turned it upside down that's how loose it was. It's being custom drilled as we speak so that the detent ball sits a little deeper in the hole. Hopefully it'll turn out okay.

Third one was also tight but with a little nano oil, some extremely minor adjustments of the pivot screw and small custom work on the detent ball it seems to have solved the issue. Also sold that one.

This still doesn't change my mind about Hinderer or the XM or MP-1 etc...I like them and got my eye on an MP-1 next. I don't mind a little tinkering to get it just right. Just wish for half a grand it'd be better odds.
