Would you buy a passaround knife?

I have the opportunity to buy/trade for a Spyderco Paramilitary. It was a passaround knife for a gun forum in Oregon. They say it's still 98% but I read all the reviews for the knife and it has been through a lot of testing.

My question I guess is would you still buy/trade for it? If it's cut soda cans, leather, boxes, etc and been sharpened 3-4 times is it a big deal?

I ask because I have never seen what a knife looks like after an 8 person passaround.

Thanks! :)

I have had knives come back totally pristine to trashed. What you describe doesn't sound that bad.You can always send it back in to the factory.

When I buy a used production knife like a spyderco I expect at least a 50% price break.

If it's in good working order, about 1/2 price and you can return it if you don't like it...go for it. I find spyerdcos, when they have problems, usually do it early. If it survived testing, it may actually assure that there are no production defects.

I agree. If it's cheap enough, and the warranty is good, there's little risk for you. 50% seems ok.

edited: 50% off street, not msrp. I'd buy some of the passaround knives here.

I've taken part in passarounds and the knives have all been in really good shape. Mostly the worst you see is a few minor cosmetic blemishes. For 50% off, I'd definitely buy a few I've handled.
