I picked this up a couple of years ago for $20 at a flea market! All I know it's a 1969. I don't really consider myself a collector(my wife would say otherwise) but I don't want to use something that could be valuable when I do have several other 110's that are already users. But the pic here is the before pic when I first bought it. It cleaned up and looks like new, may have never been sharpened or at least not sharpened much. This thing just has class compared to any other Buck I own, and if it is a 1969, it's the same year I was born. But as far as a collection goes, I consider this my best knife.
For pocket carry, it is slimmer than a modern 110 and the bolsters aren't as blocky as the 1970's bolsters and carry's real good in a pocket.(doesn't fall down.)

For me I'd use it lightly and enjoy it. If I feel the need to really get down and dirty I've got newer, less collectible 110's I can use.

My son was born in 1970. I cleaned up and sharpened one similar to that and gave it to him for his 42nd birthday.

He has used it on quite a few deer since. I say use it. :)

Awe man, I'm still hoping to find one of those at a flea market. Those older models are just beautiful to me. If I had one, it would kick every knife I own out of my pocket permanently.

Looks like you have a third version variation 9 there. The right hand stamps are getting harder to find. I'd send it to Buck for a spa treatment and put that on the shelf. :)

like a good vintage guitar, it needs to be used and appreciated. For years I wouldn't play my '64 Gretsch guitar, but finally decided it deserved to be played and appreciated. I don't beat it around like some of my other guitars, but it gets played often. Interesting enough, it is much more playable now then it was on the rare times I did pull it out of the case.
