Would you consider a Camillus EDC a "sheeple friendly" knife?

Yo,

The time has come to look at folders for travel into places where I am unfarmiliar with local laws and travel into large cities, I figure these have to be <3" in blade length, i've always admired the Camillus EDC, but it's a lil 'spensive for a knife which, god forbid, may end up confiscated because I stepped into a county that for some byzantine reason entirely banned knives :)
Yknow what I mean...

Anywho do you find that the Camillus EDC is not particularly threatening to the generic populace?

It's a sheeple friendly knife.

but...

if you end up on a plane going to Belgium, please make sure it's all nice tucked away in your lugage, and not in your handbagage. Same when your leaving this country. Central Europa banned most kinds of knives, especially bali's, double edged & auto's.

general rule : make sure it's small, not tatical looking and not on you personally in the airplane.

greetz & take care.

I don't see anything remotely threatening about the CUDA EDC. It's also an excellent knife for a reasonable price.

I think of the EDC as just about the friendliest looking tactcal folder out there.

These days, I would be hesitant to consider any knife that didn't have bright red plastic handle slabs sheeple friendly. There are a lot of nuts out there that live to cause trouble and will turn you in for taking out a pair of scissors.

Just a word of caution...

The Camillus EDC is a good folder and the prefect size for those who live in areas with a 3 inch and under limit. Just don't try to board a plane with one.

Sheeple friendly, yes for the most part. There will always be people that think that carrying any knife is wrong. They will give you a hard time, but who gives a damn.

Hi Folks,

I'm relatively new to this forum. What a wealth of knowledge on this site! Which of the two steels available for the Camillus EDC would you recommend (420HC or 154CM? The 154CM steel is $10-15 more than the standard 420HC. Is there that much difference to justify the extra cost. The knife would be used as a EDC for a variety of common cutting tasks. Also, do you prefer the plain blade or partially serrated? Thanks.

Rob64 :)

Welcome to the Forums!!

I'd go for the 154CM version in a heartbeat. It's a top quality steel that was made available for this forum and at the request of the members of the forum.

Opinions will vary on the serrated/non-serrated blade style. Personally, I prefer the plain edge because of the simplicity of resharpening.

Either way, you can't go wrong. It's a terrific knife at a very reasonable price.

Good luck. :)

I, too, would plan on getting it in 154CM, prolly one of the top 6 alloys in the world - it's quite nice, 420HC just doesn't strike me as a serious cutting alloy (though I don't really mind it on the Kershaw Scallion)

All thing considered...-yes- I do think it's "sheeple" friendly, and also a very nice knife for the $$$$.
