Another one finished on Monday....my “Coral Fighter”

OAL: 9 1/16”
Blade Length: 4 3/8”
Blade Steel: 7/32” 1080/15N20 Random Pattern Damascus; scary sharp
Bolsters: Stabilized/Dyed Box Elder Burl
Spacer: Recon Turquoise
Handle: B/W Stabilized Fossil Coral; at least 1 million yrs. old.
Hardware: Nickel silver pins in bolster; 1/8” mosaic pins in handle
File Work: My own “Twisted Ribbon” on blade area
Tapered Tang: Yes, less than 50% of original thickness. Also skeletonized for balancing.

That is beautiful! I love that kind of coral. If you go to Coralville lake in Coralville, IA (suburb of Iowa City) that kind of coral is EVERYWHERE. What is now the banks of the lake used to be a coral reef millions of years ago, when the midwest was an ocean. You can get really sweet fossil coral there for free.
 
That coral is COOL. For me though, I would prefer a different material for the bolsters. I just don't like the coral with the buckeye burl.
