I've wondered if everyone else is like me in that they would pay more for a really nice looking unique graphic on a sebbie than say for a not so attractive graphic. I'm not going to make any friends saying this here but some of the uniques kinda look like mistakes while some look much more attractive.
What about a dealer that charged on a graphic by graphic basis? I know everyone's tastes will be different but would it be wrong to do so? Everything would start out at the base price but anything considered special because of the design would be more type of a situation.

just wondering,

I think that to be a dealer you have to charge the standard prices. If someone wants something special they could order it direct from CRK.

How about a private, non affiliated collector?

I think you see what you are referring to with sebenzas listed on auction sites. The bidding goes higher for graphics that are more appealing to the eye.

Dealers are a different story, a graphic is a graphic, is a graphic.

I noticed a year or two ago that unique graphics seem to be 1) more common now and 2) have improved in "quality" of the graphic. It used to be they where pretty rare, now knifeart and truenorth, etc. almost always have some.

I think the special uniques are now called "Lisa's Picks" and are more than standard uniques. If I was buying one, that's the category I'd buy in.

I've talked to Anne a couple of times about instituting a more permanent record of some of the very special sebenzas all in one place.

Now that is some eye candy I would love to see. :D ;)

Here is my "Lisas Pick" from March 2002,
Small unique graphic Classic.

Sweet knife recoil. Is that a spider in the web?

Here's my fav but I don't think it was a Lisa's Pick:

This just looks like a "complete" graphic to me and therefore should cost more. To my way of thinkin anywho.

Edit: I'd love to see a catalog of all the uniques coming out of CRK too. Then at least, if you saw something excellent, you could have them do a close copy of it. And maybe votes on what could be the next computer gen images too.

Oilman,

My closeup skills need improvement but it is a purple spider in the web, since CRK and Spyderco are my favorites, it's only fitting.

All of the Lisas Pick models state on the warrantee card that it is in fact a Lisas Pick.

That is a great looking graphic oilman.

a graphic catalog would be great but I'm sure they would number in the thousands!

My idea for the "catalog" was to have it online. I don't know if CRK has images of previous Lisa's picks or customs for people. The goal would be to present a comprehensive "Body of Work" all in one place.

As has been pointed out there is already a large number of great custom designs and woodies out there, and I think to get those we would have to rely on the owners to send in pictures.
