Would you rather have the blue para2 or the orange para2?

I have a bnib orange para2 coming in tomorrow, but blue is my favorite color, so I'm undecided if I want to try to trade the orange one out for the blue one on the forums. They should be around the same value, correct? I think the blue has been out of stock for a little while longer so they're more rare, but I'd assume this will even out in about a month. How do the steels match up? Can anyone talk me into one because if this keeps up I think I'm going to need both of them, and my wallet won't be happy about that.

M390 vs CTS-XHP?
Blue vs orange?

No contest. Take a look at Ankerson's steel ratings.. The blue will cost more...probably, although they're both around $200 these days even though the rage in Orange Anything was hot and heavy for several weeks. You'll see that M390 is top-ranked with S90V and CTS 20CP, whereas CTS-XHP is down several categories. Ankerson's tests generally involve cutting wood, rope, paper and cardboard and then testing the longivity of the cutting edge, so some folks will argue that there are OTHER things that might be more important to some people. And, for some folks, that's true. But many of us want a steel that lasts the longest between sharpenings, and we may be less interested in whether that steel tip might chip more easily, etc. I have quite a few of these, only in what I call the super-steels, although I like M4 and D2 also, and I really like the bright blue scales, although the black-scaled S90V is my all-time favorite steel at this point. And it may change...
IMHO.

Blue without a doubt, but only because of the m390. If I could only have m390 in pink I would still take it over anything else.

M390 for edge retention, also the because I prefer blue to orange (orange also shows dirt more readily than blue)

Well, I'd take the orange...but only because I already have the blue one. :D Seriously, I faced the same choice about a month ago and bought the blue, primarily due to the steel. No regrets so far. I do plan on getting the orange one eventually, though.

Neither, get the green (well you will have to wait for a second-hand one to trade your orange). That will be my first PM2. I like the blue, I have a Sage 3 and love it, so a green will be an awesome compliment and the CTS-204P is Carpenter's (an American company btw) version of M390. I like the orange too, but would rather get the blue, gray, and carbon fiber before the orange, heck I would get the brown before the orange even though it is "just" s35v.

They put the better color with the better steel for a reason.
The color blue might as well be an addiction.

I rather get the M390 cuz blue g10 fit really well with plain satin blade. The orange is too flashy IMO.

I like blue better. I have one and I EdC it. I would like to have the orange but I would not carry it as often.

I'd rather have both :D

That's the correct answer, keep the orange and buy a blue ;)

M390 blue. Orange looks cooler imo but draws attention :D

I have both and while M390 is the better steel I can't stop carrying the orange. Orange just looks cool to me. One of these days I'll swap out the blades so I can carry the orange w/ M390.

Dude the Blue is smooth as hell with M390 and the Orange is just as crazy...hard choice. I bought both and waiting on the Green. Choices means low fuel on the wallet.

If you're from Oklahoma, the choice is easy - the Thunder's colors are Blue and Orange, so get both :D

Not trying to derail this but anyone else get an m390 with a slight side to side blade wiggle?

In theory, on the specs, if blade performance is your first priority, you'd choose the M390 (or the 204CP mentioned earlier, or the S90V or 20CP sprints, all of which are going to perform about the same).

If you factor in cost, since these are all fully sold (or, in the case of the green 204P, pre-sold), you need to figure in resale market pricing.

In real life, though, the orange XHP is going to perform very, very well. Heck, even the regular S30V version performs very well. Enjoy the knife and be happy! :D You've got a great knife already...unless you really want a different color G10!
