Hey guys, I found this knife on Smoky Mountain Knife Works website. I have read some decent reviews but I still have some concerns. The knife is equipped with ball bearings for smoother blade opening this is a concern because I work in a dusty environment. The blade is made from a softer steel AUS8, and since I am planning to order the knife I won't have the opportunity to handle it first. I only held one CRKT knife before and it seemed solid enough, but I have never owned one. I have looked at other options but this knife stood out to me the most, would you recommend it?

I think its one the most comfortable knives of any that I own. The wacky, batman-like finger grooves feel great, and the clip is so short (though very functional) that it does not interfere with the grip. The knife looks great IMO, and flips open like a dream. Nice blade profile for whatever floats your boat. So yeah, I like it. The only downside in my view is that is a little big in the pocket. Also, because it buries so deep in the pocket, it helps to turn your hand 90 degrees when grabbing the knife to extract it. In other words, grab the flipper rather than the scales. But I give it high marks. For whatever reason, it does not get a lot of love around here.

All CRKT knives run soft, whether mystery steel or (for them, high-end) steel like AUS-8. I've seen such poor quality control with CRKT knives I won't own their folders; see here for further details.

Good flipper. It is heavy. Also, the pocket clips carries deep and can be hard to remove the knife from pocket. I have seen someone else use skateboard tape on the clip to help with pocket removal.

Dat blade shape though. Beautiful.

i love this knife, its a great design and one of CRKTs best offerings i think. this knife is kind of like the big brother of the ken onion kershaw boa which was another pretty sweet all black knife. ive never used mine, just carried it so i cant comment on how it would hold up to actual use. the knife as bearings so it has some of the best flipper action ive encountered.

That is one sexy looking knife. How much are they asking? 70 bucks? You can get better quality knives for the same amount money. For $20 more you can pick up a Benchmade Grip. Much better knife,IMHO.

I like CRKT. Just don't buy much of their stuff any more. I do like your taste in knives though.

Personally I wouldn't buy it, not because it's a crkt, i actually like my lower end CRKT's, and also I like Ken onion designs, the Blur still my favorite EDC, but because I wouldn't spend that much on a knife in aus8 when I can get a similar sized Blur, even the s30v model, for less, or a larger cold steel recon1 in cts-xhp for just bit more.
