Would you wear this?

I've been working on a prototype sheath system. Here are some poor pics:

Would you wear your Battle Mistress like this? It's not intended for concealment or street carry (unless maybe if your a tactical LEO). The rig can be adapted for dorsal carry, if you prefer. For lack of imagination, I've dubbed the system the Blade-o-leer because it slings over your shoulder like a bandoleer.

Yes, I might wear it, especially in my neighborhood.

Does the leather jacket come with it

?

How much would you charge for the rig?

Hi Ron,
Sorry, no leather jacket included.

I'm still trying to figure out pricing, but it will definitely be affordable.

Well keep in touch. It looks like it could be reversed and worn with the knife on the back with the handle facing up for a behind the back draw and it could be worn UNDER a jacket like that too.
Come up with a price and I might be interested.

Awaiting Nuclear Monday for my BM-E

You got it, Andy! I should have my heavy duty sewing machine by then. Ron, I should have a price by early next week. I can make a rig that's modular so that you can switch from front to rear carry and still have the blade accessible from your strong side.

Ya, I like it too. It looks very good for hiking and sitting, as in canoe or kayak without dryskirt. If it could be reversed for back sling carry, even better.

Very cool Greg. Could you show us what it looks like on the back of a right handed person? Is it adjustable for more vertical positioning...say, beneath a hydration pack?

Here you go, Strabs:

Please elaborate more on how you would like it positioned vertically. The harness system positioning is only limited by imagination and ergonomics.

Very cool idea Strabs.
How hard will it be to resheath when worn on the back?

Shawn

Just be careful putting the knife back in its sheath if the latter is behind one's Camelbak.

Nice rig Greg!!!
Very Nice!!!
And a Great concept!!!

Depending on the cost I might be interested as well.
That's something that looks worthwhile enough to dip into my khukuri fund a little later on.

That is an awesome rig. Playing around with my BM, I'm trying to see what the most comfortable carry would be. Maybe it would be better suited completely vertical along side a H2O pack. Keep us informed on the project Greg,...looks like a purchase that may be necessary in the near future
biggrin.gif
(I had once thought of incorporating a sheath along side my Liqui-pak, but your idea looks to be more versitile)

That's a great idea. I would like to suggest that, if possible, the sheath/rig be reversible/switchable, for (for lack of a better term) tip-up or tip-down carry when worn on the back. (On the front I imagine only tip up would be practical.) Sometimes you wanna reach over your shoulder, sometimes you want the handle close to your wallet

If you make a versatile enough rig, it could also be worn completely vertical, tip-down on the back, tip-up on the front.

Thanks very much for all your comments and feedback. Gave me new ideas. The system will definitely be reversible for tip up or tip down carry front or rear. For completely vertical rear carry, I may have to rig up something like backpack straps or adapt the sheath so that it couples to a Camelbak or other back-oriented pack.

-Greg

Greg, lets do it!
I really like the tip-up/tip/down back carry concept.
You make a modular rig like that and I will HAVE to have one for my BM-E. Will the sheath be Kidex or an Eagle type?hmmm an Eagle type would be very cool, yes?
Waiting on a price.

Greg.... your addiction seems to be spreading... So much for only two or three knives
