Wouldn't it be cool.....

It would be awesome in a fixed blade, 4" or longer. Not much point to it in a folder, though. It's biggest advantage to me is its combination of toughness and edge retention. But in my opinion, toughness is more important for a fixed blade and corrosion resistance is more important for a folder (because junk tends to accumulate under the pivot area), so I would want to stick with a good stainless steel for a folder.

I would love to see Spyderco make more fixed blades with carbon steel, 1095 being my top choice.

I agree about the fixed blades

I agree that a fixed blade 1095 steel makes sense, however, the old man in me loves any knife that "patinas".

Bring on the 1095 Starmate!!!!!!

Interesting...being new to folders I often wondered why no 1095...my ESEE's can be sharpened in a fraction of the time and effort of most others...including the only folder I own - the LH Military in CPM230v...

I can get an edge just fine on the Millie...but I can sharpen the 1095 with a rock from the streambed in a few strokes!

BUT...I guess the points above are very valid. nice thread!
I'm 4 decades into daily hard use of knives..but really new to folders.
Makes sense, but still...a 1095 folder,,, is a nice vision too. :)
