Got my 113 Ranger Custom Skinner back from a trip to the 'Spa'. And it is gorgeous!

About 2 months ago, I inherited a 'hunting knife' from a distant relative. "He hunted. You hunt. Thought you might like to have this." And I was handed a knife wrapped in packing tape. (Moving tape, not blue painter's tape.) At the time, all I could tell was that it was short fixed blade knife.

After cleaning off the tape goo, I saw that it was a Buck 113 Ranger NRA Custom and it certainly was no Safe Queen. It was dirty, the brass bolsters had scratches, the blade had a few marks and scratches but the edge looked good.

I had only been a BF member a short while and I remember reading about Buck's Forever Warranty and others sending theirs off for the "Spa Treatment". S'oaky, I thought I'd do the same, printed off the online warranty form, attached a letter with some additional questions I had, wrote a check for $6.95, and sent it off to Buck.

About a week later I got a call from Randy. He said it would be better to call me and answer my questions directly. So Randy gave me the history on the knife and how it would have originally came from the factory, and answered every question I could think of. He then told me they'd get right on it and get it all buffed up and looking like new.

And about 3 weeks later it arrived and man does it ever look like new! It is buffed and polished, the scratches in the brass are gone, the NRA emblem is now readable, and the blade is spotless and razor sharp!

Included with the knife was a 25% discount card and a note hoping "I was satisfied" - am I EVER!

Thanks Randy and THANK YOU BUCK!

I received my 119 back from buck last week and I can honestly say it is in better condition than it was from the factory.

Buck does an amazing job with their spa service at a negligible price and the 25% discount card was over the top.

Thank you Buck

I had no idea Buck did this. I inherited my grandfathers 2 dot Buck 110 and I'll be sending it in for the spa treatment. Awesome looking knife Travis and thanks for the post!

I did the same thing with my mid 70's 110 and was amazed at how good it looks now.

Not sure but if it is a keepsake you might ask what they will do first. I sent a knife in once and the replaced the blade. No issue for me it was a garage sell find and had a weak spring.

Good point.

Buck does ask prominently if the knife has "Sentimental Value Yes/No" on the repair form and states on the Warranty webpage that it will help them decide whether to repair or replace.

In my case, I answered "Yes, a little" and Randy asked me about it. In other cases, I've read that Buck contacted the owner to discuss details due to the knife's value/condition/age.

From my experience Buck will go above and beyond to satisfy their customers.

great looking spa 113

That's a useful-looking knife - can't say I've seen that model before. They did a great job with it, too.

That's good to know, I own a 70's 110 and 112. I have read about the difficulty on sharpening the 440 and am probably going to just send them in for a sharpening.
